Martha was born 17 June 1884 in Grand Marais, Michigan.  She never married or had any children.

The above letter was written by Ane Nielsen to her sister Abelone.  The letter was written in 23 April 1891.  Ane is very upset because her daughter, Ane Marie died 14 February 1891.

It was a Danish tradition, in February, to send letters or poems with some paper cuttings of snowflakes.  They sent these letters to friends and they had to guess who sent the letter.  If you could not guess who sent the letter you were supposed to give the child a chocolate Easter egg.

Martha's grave is in Edgewood Cemetery in Cedarville, Michigan.
